“What the heck is going on? Did she poison them somehow?” my mother shrieked, panic-stricken.

Julianna’s parents were no better. “What’s happening to her? Help her!”

I tried to respond but could not find my voice. Brody shook my body, but all he succeeded in doing was forcing my eyes closed, taking me back to my first life all over again.

“I love you Katharine Salien. I’ve loved you all my life and I’ll love you until my last breath.” Wil slipped a ring on my finger, sealing our love for eternity.

Cheers erupted from below where the townspeople watched our wedding. Marcellus beamed beside his best friend, now his brother. My mother kissed my cheek and took my father’s hand proudly. Snow straightened my veil and pulled it back, so Wil could kiss me for the first time as my husband. Our kiss elicited a quiet giggle from Heidi who’d spent the better part of her life listening to me prattle on and on about her brother, with nary a complaint.

Anneliese and Susanna cried. Eliot looked generally disinterested, and Christian was busy watching Isabella. Isabella Acosta, the daughter of my mother’s lady-in-waiting, tossed rose petals down the path ahead of us. She turned back and smiled, happy to be a part of a family again.

Isabella’s mother passed away months before, and my mother insisted that she not only stay, but that she be given all the privileges and honors of a true princess. It was quite a pickle my brother was in, falling for the girl who was now, for all intents and purposes, his sister.

Eliot nudged him, bringing him back to reality. He wandered down the walkway to the doors and opened them, so the rest of the kingdom could behold their princess and their new prince, joined together as one.

“I still can’t believe this is real,” Wil said, squeezing my hand. “I love you so much.” He kissed me because he wanted to, not for the benefit of the crowd, but they loved it all the same.

“Calla, I swear if you don’t wake up right now I’ll... I’ll... ugh! Just wake up!” Ava yelled at my semi-conscious body. I felt my body shake. I was lifted from a hard surface, then gently placed on a soft, comfortable one.

“I believe I know what’s happening.” I heard Heidi say. “I think I can speed up the process. Make them all comfortable, quickly!” Her last words were faint as I drifted yet again.

“There you are. Why are you hiding out here?” I asked my sister.

Snow wiped her cheeks and turned her head to face me. Her eyes were swollen and red. “I just needed a moment, dear sister.”

I tucked my dress under and sat beside her on the ground in front of the river. Beautiful wildflowers grew on the shore, but none were as pretty as Snow. I plucked one, a pristine white calla lily, and handed it to her. She smiled and accepted it, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as she did.
